I absolutely loved Clara’s character so far and I’m intrigued to learn more about her, the Doctor was stunningly heartbreaking and I’m excited to see old friends come back, perhaps the ‘River’ characters of this half of the season? The episode looked gorgeous, and the costumes were amazing (I want all of Clara’s dresses now). Plus, this episode set up the S7P2 well.
The Bad
The plot. Sorry, but I just really didn’t enjoy this. I enjoyed the first half but it just got silly and insensible, and the ‘twist’ really didn’t work for me. While it set up the next part well this would have belonged better as a prequel and I didn’t enjoy the story itself at all. I also bloody hope Clara doesn’t become a love interest either - I see shippers already and make :/ faces at them.
Overall
6.5/10 - I enjoyed the episode as a setup for the next part of the series, the characters and acting were stunning and the episode looked gorgeous but the plot and forced love-interest ruined it for me.
